Hello Everyone. This is Maggie Estes of Mama Magpie MC and Mother Makings. And I got a question from one of my friends recently, Caroline, and she was talking about migrating her Mojang account to Microsoft, which is something that we all have to do if we want to continue playing Minecraft with our accounts.
So, as I was doing some research, what I ended up finding is that I found this last call to migrate Mojang accounts. Okay, it was published on May 8th of 2023 but I just see that here it says, Hurry, the move ends on September 19th, 2023.
I’m just going to read over this and show it, bring it to your attention so that you can see. Since 2021, millions of Java Edition players have switched over from their old accounts to their Microsoft accounts. Okay? I’ve done it too. It is a pain, but it is absolutely necessary. So we’re happy that so many of you are already enjoying benefits like a single account for all Minecraft games, two factor authentication, Improved player safety, and of course, capes.
You do get a cape when you migrate. Even better, Mojang account holders automatically got access to Minecraft Bedrock Edition for Windows upon migrating to a Microsoft. As a bonus! Yeah, that was pretty cool. What could be better? Yes, they say a couple of silly things here. Dinnerbone’s hat? What is he hiding under there anyway?
His old account? We digress.
Okay, they go on to say, However, the move wasn’t meant to last, and the migration period is now coming to a close, starting September 19th, 2023, at 11 AM / 17 PM CEST. Unmigrated Mojang accounts will not be able to sign into Minecraft. net or the Minecraft launcher to migrate.
We’re doing this to ensure that everyone is playing using accounts with improved security and player safety. In addition, starting September 19th, 2023, Minecraft support will no longer be able to assist in any Microsoft account migration related tickets.
What does this mean for you? This means you need to migrate your account ASAP if you haven’t done it already.
And if you’ve got kids that play, and maybe they haven’t played for a while, Double check. If you’re reading this and still haven’t switched to a Microsoft account yet, make sure you migrate before the deadline to keep your account, access Minecraft Bedrock Edition for Windows, and claim your free tape.
The migration process only takes a couple of minutes and all of your data, including your username, progress, creations, and skins will still be there.
